SAG-AFTRA & WGA Hollywood Strike:
1. Who is currently striking in Hollywood right now?
-The WGA guild/ Hollywood writers
-The SAG-AFTRA guild/ Hollywood actors
2. What are the core issues that they want resolved?
-They want a fair amount of pay from the studios that they write ideas or produce shows for
-They want compensation as a result of drastically reclining pay from streaming networks
-They're fighting against the use of AI to potentially replace human jobs
3. How would this tie into an ownership essay? Think about this example of current events in relation to how Hollywood is structured and how technology is contributing to changing economic models.
-With Actors and Writers striking, big corporations; such as the Big 5, and Streaming services; such as Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max, and Amazon Prime, could begin to lose control over audiences and content being produced.
-Mark Ruffalo made a suggestion on Twitter, that in the future the creative community should switch to creating and producing Indie films, where they would then have a choice as to what happened to the film, and what was paid to different workers.
